Colon Herbal Support
A unique formula providing a herbal combination specific for the colon.
The colon is the main part of the large intestine, which consists of four sections, the ascending, the transverse, descending and sigmoid colons. It absorbs large amounts of water and electrolytes from the undigested food passed on from the small intestine. Peristalsis occurs in the colon to move food through towards the rectum. Unfortunately there are a number of complaints that can occur in the colon, and a number of factors that can cause it to under-function.
This herbal combination has been formulated to provide support, soothe and relieve a wide range of digestive conditions, particularly in the colon, and is a safe and gentle form of natural fibre.

It is good for ulcers, irritable bowel, gastritis, colitis, constipation, excess stomach acid and as a nourishing supplement for convalescence.
Guar gum (Cyanopsis tetrangonoloba)
This is the ground up, endosperm of the seed of a plant native to India and Pakistan. It is an excellent form of fibre, acting as a natural laxative. It has also been used to stabilise the blood sugar levels, due to its delaying action on the absorption of carbohydrates, in the gut. It has been found to decrease serum cholesterol, and it acts as a natural appetite suppressant, providing a feeling of fullness.
Marshmallow (Althaea officinalis)
Marshmallow contains a high mucilage content that makes it an excellent demulcent. It soothes and protects irritated or inflamed internal tissue. This occurs when mucilage comes into contact with water, it swells and forms a very soft, soothing and protective gel. This makes it suitable for all inflammation of the digestive tract such as gastritis, peptic ulcers, enteritis and colitis for which it is gentle, calming and soothing.
Citrus pectin
Citrus pectin is extracted for use from the rinds of fibre, found in the cell walls of plants, which has a high rate of water absorption. It is by doing this that much of pectin’s action is derived from. It helps in digestion and absorption, while providing a good amount of fibre. Pectin can be used as an anti diarrheal agent, and also to lower fat absorption and thus it may help lower cholesterol. It also slows absorption of food after meals, therefore it is useful for diabetics to help stabilise blood sugar. It removes unwanted metals and toxins and is thought to decrease the side effects of radiation.
