Canterbury Earth Quakes 2010 and into 2011.  Christchurch and the surrounding area were hit by a three large Earthquakes measuring 7.1,  to 6.2 since September of last year.  We are pleased to say that we only suffered minor damage, unlike so many close by, many of whom lost their homes and businesses.  The communities are coming together and our infrastructre is slowly getting up and running again. The hardship many are going through  has brought out the best in folks and showed how resilient our communities and local government services are. We would like to thank all those that contacted us and sent their concerns and offers of assistance. We hope and pray at last that the land is settling. To date approx 80,000 people have left the city and thousands of homes need to be relocated, as liquifaction has turned large parts of the Eastern suburburbs into swampy unstable ground.
