Immune Herbal Formula
This product contains a combination of the most potent and well-researched botanical extracts available. The formula has been specifically put together to boost the immune system, as a tonic, a preventative and to aid recovery from an illness.
The botanicals included are:
Astragalus membranaceus
This herb has a long history in traditional Chinese herbal medicine, where it has been used to promote a run down immune system. Recent studies verify this traditional wisdom, indicating that this is an excellent botanical to use in conditions of long-term debility and profound immune deficiencies.
Various studies have found:
- Increased phagocytic activity and increased T-cell activity in normal and immunodepressed mice.
- Enhanced cell growth, metabolism and longevity in cell cultures with anti-viral and possible anti-tumour properties.
- In human studies, oral doses increased levels of antibodies, such as Ig E and Igm.
- In a study on 1000 subjects, a decreased incidence and shortened duration of infection for the common cold, was discovered.
- Studies have found that it is useful, to use alongside standard cancer treatments, with results such as increased survival rate and increased body weight being observed. It has also been used on patients in China.
- Another study showed T-cell deficiency was corrected in cancer patients.
Astragalus may be used to increase vitality, rebuild a weakened immune system and to enhance immune function. It is suitable for chronic fatigue or debility, in chronic illness including viral and auto immune, disorders and in recurrent colds and flu.
Echinacea
Echinacea has been extensively researched, with its application now widespread. It has a broad spectrum of effects of the immune system because of its wide range of active components. It has strong immunostimulatory effects including enhanced macrophage phagocytosis, antibody binding and natural killer cell activity.
Echinacea’s immune enhancing effects assist with influenza, viruses, colds, and upper respiratory tract infections, general infections as well as wound healing. It is the prime botanical to help the body rid itself of microbial infection.
Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera is widely used in households for a range of uses, including general health. However researchers in the Netherlands have discovered it is a potent immunostimulant. Preliminary research has also begun on possible anti-viral properties.
Panax Ginseng
Ginseng is useful to promote health and longevity, while replenishing vital energy. It helps improve resistance to infection and is stimulating in cases of debility and weakness.
It has been used in cancer treatment to help assist recovery and minimise the side effects of chemotherapy or radiation, while increasing the white blood cell count.
Research has found that ginseng inhibits the incidence and proliferation of tumours in mice exposed to carcinogens. Ginseng also enhances phagocytosis, non specific immunity and increases natural killer cell and macrophage activity.
Garlic
Garlic is a well known anti-microbial and anti-viral with universal useage and recognition. It is one of the most effective anti-microbials available, and is useful as a preventative or treatment for most infective conditions. It is also immune enhancing and research indicates its wide range of functions include enhanced T-lymphocyte and macrophage function, increased natural killer cell activity and enhanced phagocytic cell function. It also has anti-cancer properties, provides antioxidant protection and kills intestinal parasites. Garlic contains over 75 different sulphur container compounds, bioflavanoids (including quercetin as well as selenium.
Elderberry
Elderberry is indicated in any catarrhal inflammation of the upper respiratory tract, and for feverish conditions. A study found that elderberry inhibited the replication of the influenza virus and decreased recovery time, with reduced symptoms during an outbreak.
Shiitake mushroom (Lentinus edodes).
Shiitake is one of the most widely cultivated mushrooms in the world. It contains a constituent called lentinan that is one of the most potent immune stimulating polysaccharides known. Research shows shiitane triggers the increased production of various bioactive serum factors associated with immunity and inflammation, and is also anti-viral.
